
YB Tuan Gobind Singh Deo, Minister for Digital of Malaysia, called on Mr. Jam Kamal Khan, Minister for Commerce of Pakistan, on the sidelines of the Pakistan-Malaysia Business and Investment Conference on October 6 in Kuala Lumpur.
During the meeting, the Minister for Commerce and the Minister for Digital emphasized the growing importance of digital transformation in boosting trade, investment, and technological collaboration between Pakistan and Malaysia.
The two Ministers also exchanged views on expanding e-commerce platforms, facilitating cross-border digital services, strengthening cybersecurity cooperation, and promoting joint ventures in emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and 5G infrastructure.
The two Ministers expressed satisfaction over the highly successful and productive meeting between Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
They also expressed hope that the Memorandum of Understanding signed during the visit between the Pakistan Software Houses Association for IT and ITeS (P@sha) and the National Tech Association of Malaysia (PIKOM) on cooperation in the IT sector will significantly strengthen and deepen the digital linkages between Pakistan and Malaysia.
The two Ministers also jointly inaugurated the TechConnect Conference and delivered keynote addresses to participants representing leading and emerging companies from Malaysia and Pakistan. The event featured prominent organizations such as MDEC, Cyberview, the Malaysia Semiconductor Industry Association, PIKOM, as well as representatives from AWS and Oracle.
During the TechConnect Conference, the participating delegates engaged in presentations, discussions, and networking sessions to explore innovative solutions, foster collaboration, and identify new business opportunities in the digital and IT sectors.
The Minister for Commerce was accompanying Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif during his state visit to Malaysia from October 5 to 7.
