Renowned Pakistani actor Faysal Qureshi has responded firmly to criticism surrounding his latest drama Case No. 9, clarifying that the show’s purpose is not to promote bold content but to shed light on the bitter realities of society.
Faysal Qureshi, known for his powerful performances in acclaimed dramas such as Bashar Momin, Meri Zaat Zarra-e-Benishan, Haiwan, Hook, Farq, and Khaie, is currently captivating audiences with his intense portrayal of a negative character in Case No. 9.
His convincing performance as a rapist, raw, emotional, and close to reality has drawn widespread praise from viewers. However, some sections of the audience have labeled the show’s content as “bold,” prompting the actor to offer clarification.
Speaking via phone on a private TV channel’s morning show, Faysal Qureshi said that while the majority of viewers have appreciated the drama, a few believe it contains bold themes. “The truth is that many women face harassment in workplaces, and we have portrayed what genuinely happens in our society,” he explained.
He emphasized that Case No. 9 aims to raise awareness about social issues and challenge the silence surrounding workplace harassment rather than sensationalize or exploit sensitive subjects.
The actor’s strong statement has reignited discussions about realism, censorship, and social responsibility in Pakistani television dramas.
