KP Cabinet approves withdrawal of May 9 Mardan riots case

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) cabinet has approved the withdrawal of the May 9 case related to violence and shooting incidents in Mardan.

According to media reports, the provincial government has transferred the public prosecutor and appointed Additional Advocate General Inamullah as the special prosecutor for the case.

The Additional Advocate General submitted a letter from the Additional Home Secretary to the court, formally requesting the withdrawal of the case. The court has now fixed October 15 as the next hearing date.

It is worth mentioning that the May 9 incident in Mardan involved stone-pelting and firing, which left political workers, bystanders, and police officers injured. The accused in the case include Zahir Shah Toru, MNA Mujahid Khan, and several others.
