Parents should step back after daughters’ marriage: Saima Qureshi

2 min read

Veteran actress Saima Qureshi, known for her bold and often controversial statements, has once again sparked debate by holding mothers responsible for the collapse of their daughters’ marriages.

Speaking as a guest on a recent podcast, Qureshi shared her views on family dynamics and marital challenges. She argued that once daughters are married, parents should step back instead of interfering in their new household.

“Parents should tell their daughters that we also faced many struggles in our lives, and you will have to face yours. Don’t expect us to intervene every
time,” she said.

Qureshi further added that in cases where a husband or mother-in-law raises their voice or criticizes, daughters should be encouraged to handle the situation themselves instead of relying on parents’ support.

The actress, however, drew a clear line, stating that women should never tolerate abuse. “If a husband is providing for you and treating you with love, then minor issues should be ignored. But if there is abuse, foul language, or violence, it should never be accepted,” she stressed.

In the same interview, Qureshi also claimed that “95 percent of men want to marry a second time,” another remark that has stirred controversy online.

Her comments have reignited debates on gender roles, parental involvement in marriages, and women’s rights within households.
