Pakistan announces 18-man squad for South Africa tests

Pakistan has announced an 18-member squad for the two-match Test series against South Africa under the ICC World Test Championship. The series will be led by captain Shan Masood.

Three new players Asif Afridi, Faisal Akram, and Rohail Nazir have been included in the squad. Alongside them, the squad features Aamir Jamal, Abdullah Shafique, Abrar Ahmed, Babar Azam, Hasan Ali, Imam-ul-Haq, Kamran Ghulam, Khurram Shahzad, Mohammad Rizwan (wicketkeeper), Nauman Ali, Sajid Khan, Salman Ali Agha, Saud Shakeel, and Shaheen Afridi.

The first Test will be played at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, from October 12 to 16, while the second Test will take place in Rawalpindi from October 20 to 24. South Africa, winners of the 2023–25 World Test Championship, will be aiming to extend their strong form against Pakistan.

Following the Test series, both teams will play three T20 Internationals and three One-Day Internationals between October 28 and November 8. The white-ball squads will be announced at a later stage.

Ahead of the series, Pakistan players will undergo a training camp supervised by head coach Azhar Mahmood and National Cricket Academy staff. The camp begins today and will continue until October 8. Players who featured in the Asia Cup will join the camp on October 4.
