Indian singer Adnan Sami has emphasized that artists are always loyal to their country and should not be involved in politics. His remarks came after the release of the film “Sardar Ji 3,” in which he was part of the cast, amid controversy sparked by tensions between India and Pakistan.
According to media reports, Sami, who became an Indian citizen in 2016, said in a recent interview that “politics is one thing, and nationality is another. An artist always belongs to their country. Art transcends borders and should not be forced into political narratives.”
He further explained that artists do not align with any political ideology and that their work naturally crosses boundaries. Sami stressed that the purpose of art is to connect people, not to serve political agendas.
The comments come in the backdrop of India’s earlier ban on Pakistani dramas and films following the Pulwama incident. The film “Sardar Ji 3,” starring Pakistani actors, along with other projects featuring Pakistani talent, were released outside India despite the ban. “Shooting for Sardar Ji 3 was completed before the Pulwama incident,” Sami noted, adding that he decided to release the film internationally despite threats.
