The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a flood advisory, warning of possible heavy rains over the next 24 hours in the upper catchment areas of the Indus and Kabul rivers, as well as in Rawalpindi and Islamabad. The National Emergencies Operation Center (NEOC) has released updated details regarding river flows and potential flood situations across different regions.
According to NDMA, Kotri Barrage is currently facing a medium-level flood with a water flow of nearly 400,000 cusecs, and flood conditions are expected to persist until the end of September. Meanwhile, water levels at Guddu and Sukkur barrages are gradually receding and are now flowing at normal levels. At Ravi River, water flow at Ganda Singh Wala is declining, while Suleimanki and Islam barrages are experiencing low-level flooding.
The authority has warned that low-lying areas in several regions remain at risk of inundation due to current river flows. NEOC continues to monitor the situation round the clock and is providing timely updates to all relevant institutions. NDMA has urged the public to avoid unnecessary travel in flood-prone areas and refrain from crossing flood streams.
Relief camp residents have also been advised to wait for official instructions before returning to their homes, as precautionary measures remain in place to ensure their safety.
