KARACHI: Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty’s husband, businessman Raj Kundra, has rejected allegations of a massive $72 million (₹6.04 billion) fraud case filed against him.

Speaking to the media in New Delhi during the promotion of his Punjabi film Mehr, Kundra firmly denied any wrongdoing. “We have not done anything wrong. That’s why we stayed silent until now. We know we are innocent, and the truth will come out soon,” he said.

The allegations were made by 60-year-old businessman Deepak Kothari, who claims he was misled in an investment deal between 2015 and 2023. According to Kothari, he agreed in 2015 to lend ₹7.5 billion to Best Deal TV Pvt Ltd—a company co-owned by Raj Kundra and Shilpa Shetty—at 12% annual interest.

Kothari says he eventually transferred ₹6.04 billion to Kundra, but later the loan agreement was converted into an investment deal. He also alleges that Shilpa Shetty personally guaranteed the deal in April 2016 but resigned as company director just months later in September 2016, at a time when the company was facing bankruptcy proceedings—information he claims was hidden from him.

Raj Kundra, however, insists the charges are baseless and vows the truth will soon be revealed.
