ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has approved the Foreigner (Long Term Residency) Order, 2025, a major step under the country’s investment visa policy aimed at attracting global investors and skilled professionals.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the decision was taken at a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Long-Term Residency Policy, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar at MoFA on Saturday.

The committee held detailed deliberations before granting approval to the order, which officials say will provide a legal framework for granting long-term residency to foreign nationals who invest in Pakistan or contribute professionally in key sectors.

The meeting was attended by Minister for Law Azam Nazeer Tarar, SAPM Tariq Bajwa, Foreign Secretary, Secretary Law, Secretary Interior, Chairman FBR, Special Secretary Finance, and other senior officials.

Government sources noted that the policy is designed to improve Pakistan’s investment climate and encourage high-value professionals to settle and work in the country, contributing to economic growth.
