Lasbela sets historic example: All 72 closed government schools reactivated

In a landmark development for the education sector of Balochistan, Lasbela has become the first district in the province to reactivate all of its previously closed government schools.

According to officials, a total of 72 non-functional schools have been reopened, ensuring that no government school in the district remains closed. The initiative, led by MPA Zarain Khan Magsi with the vision and guidance of MNA Lasbela and Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan, has brought thousands of out-of-school children back into classrooms.

The move has not only given children a renewed chance for education and a brighter future but also created dozens of employment opportunities for teachers and support staff across the district.

Teacher appointments were carried out with transparency, officials said, through multiple channels including contract teachers, SBK graduates, retired educators, and CSR-supported staffs ensuring fairness and merit in the recruitment process.

The success of the campaign is attributed to strong community engagement, tehsil-level visits, and local consultations, alongside a coordinated strategy developed in collaboration with the Education Department.

MPA Zarain Khan Magsi facilitated resource mobilization, identified challenges, and guided administrative measures, while MNA Jam Kamal Khan provided overall vision and leadership to drive the initiative.

Officials confirmed that the project has now entered its next phase, which will focus on renovating school buildings, providing furniture, and upgrading other educational facilities under the District Education Group.

Education experts have hailed the achievement as a powerful precedent for the entire province, transforming the educational landscape of Lasbela and setting an example for other districts of Baluchistan to follow.
