Electricity over 1.47 Million consumers reconnected: Poverty Div

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Energy (Power Division) has released its latest report on electricity restoration efforts in flood-affected regions across Pakistan, showing significant progress in reconnecting millions of consumers to the national grid.

According to the report, a total of 51 grid stations and 542 feeders were impacted nationwide. So far, 307 feeders have been fully restored and 227 partially restored, reconnecting 1,471,528 out of 1,801,091 affected consumers. The Power Division emphasized that restoring electricity for the remaining 329,563 consumers remains a top priority.

In the Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) network covering Toba Tek Singh, Faisalabad, Chiniot, Jhang, Sargodha, Mianwali, and Dera Ismail Khan 28 grid stations and 81 feeders were damaged. Of these, 36 feeders are fully restored and 44 partially restored, bringing power back to 134,012 of 204,391 affected consumers. Full restoration is expected by September 14 once floodwaters recede.

In the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) network serving Lahore, Okara, Sheikhupura, Kasur, and Nankana Sahib 62 out of 67 feeders have been fully restored. Power has been restored for 67,578 of 73,734 affected consumers, with the remaining 6,156 consumers expected to be reconnected by September 14. LESCO reported that restoration work in Lahore, Nankana, and Sheikhupura is already complete.

The Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO) reported 179 feeders affected, with 6 fully and 166 partially restored, supplying electricity back to 19,391 of 268,165 consumers. The company stated that full restoration will begin once floodwater levels subside.

The Gujranwala Electric Power Company (GEPCO) reported that 96 of 103 feeders have been fully restored, reconnecting 734,857 of 735,987 affected consumers, with the remaining 1,130 expected to be reconnected shortly.

The Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO), which covers Swat, Buner, Shangla, Swabi, and Dera Ismail Khan, reported that 87 feeders are fully restored and power has been reconnected for 461,247 of 463,375 affected consumers. PESCO confirmed that restoration work is now complete in Swat, Swabi, and D.I. Khan.

In the Tribal Areas Electric Supply Company (TESCO) network serving North Waziristan and Khyber 17 of 18 feeders are fully restored, restoring power for 30,778 of 31,774 affected consumers. Full restoration is expected by 5 PM on September 15.

The Hazara Electric Supply Company (HAZECO) reported that all three affected feeders in Mansehra have been fully restored.

The Power Division reaffirmed that work is continuing round the clock and full restoration across all regions is expected soon, subject to receding floodwaters.
