Power Division: over 1.45 Million consumers reconnected after floods

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Energy (Power Division) has issued its latest report on electricity restoration in flood-hit regions, confirming that power supply has been restored for 1.45 million out of 1.75 million affected consumers across the country.

According to the report on Friday, Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) areas including Toba Tek Singh, Faisalabad, Chiniot, Jhang, Sargodha, Mianwali and Dera Ismail Khan, were hit hard, with 28 grids and 81 feeders affected. Of these, 30 feeders have been fully restored and 50 partially, reconnecting power to 116,350 of 202,436 affected consumers. The remaining 86,086 are expected to be reconnected by September 14, once floodwaters recede.

In Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO)’s jurisdiction, covering Lahore, Okara, Sheikhupura, Kasur and Nankana Sahib, 67 feeders were affected. Restoration has been completed on 62 feeders and partially on five, ensuring electricity for 67,578 of 73,734 consumers. Power Division stated that supply to the remaining 6,156 consumers will be fully restored by September 12.

Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO) reported heavy damage with 175 feeders impacted. So far, six feeders have been fully and 165 partially restored, reconnecting 19,305 of 224,679 affected consumers. Officials said complete restoration will begin once water levels drop.

In Gujranwala Electric Power Company (GEPCO)’s areas, 11 grids and 103 feeders were disrupted. Restoration has been achieved on 96 feeders and partially on seven, supplying power back to 734,649 of 735,987 consumers. The remaining 1,338 consumers will be reconnected once floodwater clears.

Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) also suffered damage in Swat, Buner, Shangla, Swabi and D.I. Khan, with 12 grids and 91 feeders affected. Restoration has been completed on 87 feeders and partially on four, re-energizing 461,247 of 463,375 affected consumers. Work for the remaining 2,128 is expected to conclude today, September 12.

In Tribal Electric Supply Company (TESCO)’s areas of North Waziristan and Khyber, 18 feeders were damaged. Seventeen have been fully restored and one partially, restoring power to 30,778 of 31,774 consumers. The remaining 996 consumers are expected to get electricity back by September 15 evening.

Meanwhile, Hazara Electric Supply Company (HESCO) reported that all three feeders in Mansehra have been fully restored.

Overall, the Power Division said 51 grids and 538 feeders were hit nationwide. So far, 301 feeders have been fully restored and 232 partially reconnecting 1,453,572 of 1,755,650 affected consumers. Restoration for the remaining 302,078 consumers is being treated as a priority.
