ISLAMABAD: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) hosted ambassadors and senior diplomats from more than thirty foreign missions at the National Emergencies Operations Center on Thursday in Islamabad. The session aimed to brief the diplomatic community on the humanitarian and infrastructural impacts of the monsoon season and to highlight NDMA’s response and resource deployment.

Ambassadors and representatives from countries including Turkiye, Australia, Russia, Germany, Japan, Canada, South Africa, Poland and Ireland attended in person, while Pakistan’s missions abroad joined virtually. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also participated in the gathering.

NDMA officials gave a detailed briefing on relief and response operations across flood-affected regions. Chairman NDMA Lt General Inam Haider Malik spoke about coordinated efforts with provincial and regional authorities, the supply of relief items, and the use of technology for weather monitoring and timely support. Other NDMA wings also shared their actions in managing the floods.

The diplomats were informed about NDMA’s proactive measures such as integrated response systems, modern early warning tools, and closer coordination with national and local stakeholders. Participants praised NDMA’s efforts, calling them vital for protecting lives and livelihoods and for building Pakistan’s resilience against climate-related disasters.
