PESHAWAR: In a major crackdown against narcotics, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Excise Department has successfully foiled a smuggling attempt and seized a huge quantity of drugs worth millions of rupees. The operation was carried out near No Gazay Baba, Khyber district, under the ongoing anti-narcotics emergency announced by KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur.

Acting on a tip-off, the Excise Intelligence Bureau (EIB) team, led by Provincial In-charge Saud Khan Gandapur, launched the operation with Sub-Inspector Adnan Shahid, Sub-Inspector Nasir Amir, ASI Malik Niaz Ali, and other personnel. The smugglers resisted fiercely, but the officials managed to stop and search a vehicle registration no. AYU 514 Islamabad.

During the search, the team recovered a massive consignment of narcotics, including 501 kilograms of hashish and 4 kilograms of high-quality crystal meth (ice). The seized drugs are estimated to be worth crores of rupees in the black market.

According to the Excise Department, the successful operation was conducted on the directives of Provincial Minister for Excise Khaleeq-ur-Rehman, Secretary Excise Khalid Ilyas, and Director General Abdul Haleem Khan, as part of the province-wide campaign against drug dealers, smugglers, and their facilitators.

A case has been registered at Excise Police Station Khyber for further investigation and legal proceedings. Officials confirmed that follow-up raids are also underway to trace the network behind this large consignment.

Authorities reiterated their commitment to intensifying the crackdown against narcotics and ensuring that those involved in drug trade are brought to justice.
