Over 1.7 Million consumers hit by flood power outages, 1.42 Million reconnected: Power Division

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Energy (Power Division) has reported on Wednesday that floods across the country disrupted electricity for 1,713,786 consumers, but restoration work has already reconnected the majority, with 1,429,415 consumers back on supply.

According to the latest report, 51 grids and 526 feeders were affected nationwide. Out of these, 286 feeders are now fully restored while 233 are partially restored, and efforts continue to reconnect the remaining 284,371 consumers on a priority basis.

The Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) saw 28 grids and 81 feeders affected in districts including Toba Tek Singh, Faisalabad, Chiniot, Jhang, Sargodha, Mianwali and Dera Ismail Khan. Electricity has been restored to 97,761 out of 202,436 consumers, while the rest are expected to be reconnected by September 11 once floodwaters recede.

The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) reported 67 damaged feeders across Lahore, Okara, Sheikhupura, Kasur and Nankana Sahib. Out of 73,734 affected consumers, power has been restored to 66,385. Full restoration is expected today. Lahore and Sheikhupura have already seen complete recovery.

The Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO) faced 163 affected feeders. So far, 18,191 out of 182,815 consumers have had power restored, with full restoration planned once water levels drop.

The Gujranwala Electric Power Company (GEPCO) had 11 grids and 103 feeders hit by floods. Power has been restored to 734,186 of 735,987 consumers. Only 1,801 remain without supply, which will be restored once conditions improve.

The Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) reported damage to 12 grids and 91 feeders in Swat, Buner, Shangla, Swabi and Dera Ismail Khan. Out of 463,375 affected consumers, 461,049 now have electricity. The remaining 2,326 are expected to be reconnected by September 11 or 12. Swat, Swabi and Dera Ismail Khan have already been fully restored.

The Tribal Electric Supply Company (TESCO) faced 18 affected feeders in North Waziristan and Khyber. Power has been restored to 28,178 of 31,774 consumers. The remaining 3,596 are expected to be reconnected by September 15.

The Hazara Electric Supply Company (HESCO) reported that all three affected feeders in Mansehra have been fully restored.

The Power Division said it is working closely with provincial authorities to ensure fast-track restoration in remaining flood-hit areas, calling electricity recovery a national priority.
