
KUALA LUMPUR: Pakistani players swept all trophies at the 4th Gateway International Scrabble Tournament, adding another feather to their cap after their recent triumph at the World Youth Scrabble Championship.
The three-day event featured 80 players from nine countries, including world number four Thacha Ko Virat.
Pakistan’s former Asian Youth Champion Husham Hadi Khan claimed the senior category title by winning 17 of 24 games with an impressive spread of 1,190. Fourteen-year-old Ahmed Salman finished second, while former World Youth Champion Affan Salman secured third place.
In the youth category, Pakistan also dominated. Misbah ur Rehman clinched the title, Shah Jahan Ahmed finished second, and Musab Fareedi secured seventh place.
This clean sweep is seen as a major success for the Pakistan Scrabble Association and highlights the rapid rise of young Pakistani players among the world’s top scrabble talent.
