Flood-hit areas: Over 1.4 million get electricity back, 255,000 still affected: Power Division

ISLAMABAD: The Power Division has released its latest report on Monday regarding electricity restoration in flood-hit areas, confirming that over 1.4 million consumers have had their supply restored while work continues for the remaining users.

According to the report, Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) faced major damage with 27 grid stations and 80 feeders affected across Toba Tek Singh, Faisalabad, Chiniot, Jhang, Sargodha, Mianwali and Dera Ismail Khan. Out of 80 feeders, 17 are fully restored and 59 temporarily restored. Power has been restored for 90,049 customers out of 201,937, while work for the remaining 111,888 will be completed by September 10 once floodwaters recede.

Gujranwala Electric Power Company (GEPCO) saw 11 grids and 103 feeders hit. So far, 89 feeders are fully restored and 14 partially. Out of 735,987 affected customers, 722,402 now have power. The remaining 13,585 customers will get electricity back as soon as water levels fall.

Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) reported damage to 67 feeders across Lahore, Okara, Sheikhupura, Kasur and Nankana. Of these, 57 are fully restored and 10 partially. Power has been restored for 64,393 customers out of 73,734. The remaining 9,341 customers are expected to have power by September 9 or 10. Restoration in Sheikhupura has already been completed.

Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO) reported 153 feeders affected. Four are fully restored and 149 partially. A total of 129,244 customers were affected, with complete restoration to begin once water recedes.
Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) reported 12 grids and 91 feeders hit in Swat, Buner, Shangla, Swabi and Dera Ismail Khan. Of these, 86 feeders are fully restored and 5 partially. Power has been restored for 461,049 customers out of 463,375. The remaining 2,326 customers will have electricity back between September 11 and 12. Restoration is already complete in Swat, Swabi and Dera Ismail Khan.

Tribal Electric Supply Company (TESCO) reported 18 feeders down in North Waziristan and Khyber. Of these, 13 are fully restored and 5 partially. Power has been restored for 27,378 customers out of 31,774. Work for the remaining 4,396 customers is expected to finish by September 15.

Hazara Electric Supply Company (HESCO) reported three feeders down in Mansehra, all of which are now fully restored.

Overall, the Power Division said that out of 50 grids and 515 affected feeders nationwide, 269 have been fully restored and 242 partially. Out of 1,659,716 affected customers, power has been restored for 1,404,486. The remaining 255,230 customers remain the top priority.
