The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Sunday confirmed that Pakistan will host its first-ever T20 tri-series featuring Sri Lanka and Afghanistan later this year.

According to the schedule, the tri-series will run from November 17 to 29, with matches split between Rawalpindi and Lahore. The opening clash between Pakistan and Afghanistan is set for November 17 at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, followed by the Sri Lanka–Afghanistan fixture on November 19.

In a historic moment, Afghanistan will play their first-ever T20 International in Pakistan during the series. The remaining five matches, including the final, will be staged at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, with the title decider scheduled for November 29.

Preparation for T20I world cup

PCB Chief Operating Officer Sameer Ahmed Syed termed the tri-series an ideal opportunity for teams to fine-tune preparations ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup.

“This event will not only provide competitive cricket but also help Pakistan and visiting teams assess their combinations before the mega tournament,” he said in a statement.
