
The Power Division has released its latest report on the restoration of electricity in flood-affected regions, confirming that more than 1.36 million out of 1.64 million affected consumers have had their power supply restored.
According to the report, Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) faced major disruptions as 27 grids and 80 feeders in Toba Tek Singh, Faisalabad, Chiniot, Jhang, Sargodha, Mianwali and Dera Ismail Khan were affected. Out of these, 15 feeders have been fully restored while 61 are operating on a temporary basis. Power has been restored to 82,813 consumers out of 199,955. Work for the remaining 117,142 consumers is expected to be completed by September 8 as floodwaters recede.
In Gujranwala Electric Power Company (GEPCO) areas, 11 grids and 103 feeders were impacted. So far 86 feeders have been fully restored and 17 partially. Out of 735,987 affected consumers, electricity has been restored to 716,707. Power for the remaining 19,280 consumers will be restored once floodwaters recede.
Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) reported that 67 feeders were affected in Lahore, Okara, Sheikhupura, Kasur and Nankana Sahib. Of these, 57 have been fully restored and 10 partially. Out of 73,734 affected consumers, power has been restored to 61,543. Electricity for the remaining 12,191 is expected to be restored between September 7 and 8. Restoration work in Sheikhupura has been completed.
In Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO) areas, 151 feeders were affected and have been temporarily restored. A total of 113,369 consumers were impacted. Full restoration work will begin once water levels drop.
Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) reported damages in Swat, Buner, Shangla, Swabi and Dera Ismail Khan where 12 grids and 91 feeders were hit. So far, 86 feeders have been fully restored and five partially. Out of 463,375 affected consumers, electricity has been restored to 461,049. The remaining 2,326 are expected to have power by September 11–12. Restoration in Swat, Swabi and Dera Ismail Khan has already been completed.
In Tribal Electric Supply Company (TESCO) areas of North Waziristan and Khyber, 18 feeders were affected. Seven feeders have been fully restored and nine temporarily. Out of 31,774 affected consumers, 8,179 have been reconnected. The remaining 20,122 consumers are expected to have electricity restored by September 15.
Hazara Electric Supply Company (HAZECO) reported that all three affected feeders in Mansehra have been fully restored.
Overall, the Power Division said 50 grids and 513 feeders were affected nationwide. Out of these, 254 have been fully restored and 253 temporarily. So far, 1,361,641 consumers have been reconnected while work continues to restore power for the remaining 276,745 consumers on a priority basis.
