Islamabad: Former Pakistan captain and swing legend Wasim Akram has offered key advice to struggling batter Babar Azam, urging him to stay calm, rise above criticism, and focus on his natural game to regain form.
Speaking on a private TV show, Akram described Babar as “our superstar and one of the best players in the world.” He advised the former skipper to avoid unnecessary press conferences, ignore outside noise, and remember that “form is temporary, but class is permanent.”
Akram added that while Babar is already a world-class batter, his best performances are yet to come. “He has all the qualities of a match-winner. The time has come for him to win two to three big matches for Pakistan and further cement his legacy,” he said.
The legendary fast bowler expressed confidence that Babar’s talent, consistency, and hard work will soon restore his status among the world’s top batters.
Babar Azam is currently facing a dip in form. His last international century came against Nepal in the Asia Cup 2023, and since then he has struggled to reach three figures. Recently, his low strike rate also led to him being dropped from Pakistan’s T20 squad.
Despite the criticism, experts believe Babar has the skills and temperament to bounce back strongly.
