Islamabad: The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has intensified its enforcement campaign on the directions of Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Captain (R) Hamza Humayun, issuing thousands of challans and taking strict action against traffic rule violators across the federal capital.

According to the weekly performance report, action was taken against 2,236 vehicles and motorcycles during the past week. A total of 1,658 motorcycles and 578 vehicles were impounded at police stations for serious violations.

The report highlighted that 819 drivers were fined for lane violations, 96 for driving without a license, and 2,812 for illegal parking. Similarly, 1,067 drivers faced action for driving against traffic flow, 1,371 for fancy number plates, 1,393 for signal violations, 792 for not wearing helmets, and 125 for not carrying valid fitness certificates.

The crackdown also extended to heavy traffic, with 4,823 challans issued for overloading. Authorities reminded citizens that rickshaws are banned in Islamabad, leading to 196 rickshaws being penalized for violations.

CTO Hamza Humayun directed traffic wardens to ensure zero tolerance against underage drivers and those driving without licenses. He further ordered strict action against one-wheelers and stunt riders.

Calling for public cooperation, the CTO urged citizens to respect traffic rules and support enforcement staff. “Every responsible citizen must prove their civic sense by obeying traffic laws,” he emphasized.
