Imran finalised all Senate nominees including Mirza Afridi: Gohar

2 min read

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said on Tuesday that party founder Imran Khan has finalised all the Senate nominees including Mirza Afridi.

Speaking to media at the Judicial Complex, Barrister Gohar said: “The Senate elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were conducted smoothly, according to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar.  The party had already decided on the candidates, and not a single name was selected without the approval of Imran Khan.”

He said: “All nominations were finalised in March 2024, but proceedings were delayed due to issues concerning reserved seats.”

Barrister Gohar added: “Following the verdict over the reserved seats, there had been concerns over a potential reduction in available seats. But, the PTI has secured six Senate seats from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.”

Addressing concerns regarding ticket allocations, Barrister Gohar said it was inappropriate to award party tickets to individuals who held press conferences after 9 May.

Speaking about Mirza Afridi, Barrister Gohar said: “Mirza Afridi’s name has been finalised by Imran Khan himself. Afridi has made no statements against PTI and consistently supported the party’s stance and objectives.”
