Dar resolves Pakistan’s commitment to tackle global issues

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar resolved on Tuesday the Pakistan’s commitment to tackle the global issues.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) spokesperson, Dar called on United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres on the sidelines of his visit to the United States. Dar stressed the need for strengthening the UN’s role in addressing the disputes and promotion the sustainable development.

Reaffirming the UN Charter, Dar urged the need to move the peace forward through holding talks and diplomacy. Dar has highlighted the Kashmir dispute, violation of Indus Waters Treaty and sponsored terrorism during his meeting with Guterres.

Dar has reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Palestinian state, demanding an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

The UN secretary-general has commended Pakistan’s presence and measures at the Security Council.

Moreover, according to the MoFA, Dar has also called on UN General Assembly President Philemon Yang.

Separately, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar addressed the United Nations High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) on Sustainable Development, reaffirming Pakistan’s strong commitment to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

He also spotlighted the country’s key socio-economic and climate resilience initiatives.

In his national statement at the forum, Dar outlined the significant policy actions Pakistan is undertaking to drive inclusive growth, climate resilience, and economic reform, and push forward economic reform amid growing global challenges, including food insecurity and climate change.

“Food crisis and climate change are among the most pressing challenges of our time,” he said, adding that “Uraan Pakistan is a national development project aimed at empowering youth and promoting innovation.”
