Imperative to take decisive actions against India-backed proxies: Military

5 min read

The Pakistan Army has vowed to continue decisive and comprehensive operations at all levels against Indian-sponsored terrorist proxies, reaffirming that the safety and security of the Pakistani people remain its top priority.

This was stated during the 271st Corps Commanders Conference held at the General Headquarters (GHQ), chaired by Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir. The high-level forum reviewed the internal and regional security landscape, operational preparedness, and the evolving nature of threats facing the country.

The forum reviewed the recent achievements of the security forces against terrorist proxies and made it clear that the safety and security of the people of Pakistan was the top priority of the armed forces. Prayers were offered for the martyrs of recent terrorist attacks allegedly carried out by Indian-backed elements. The military leadership expressed firm resolve that the blood of the martyrs will not go in vain.

“It is inevitable to continue decisive and comprehensive operations against Indian-sponsored proxies at all levels,” the forum declared, adding that India’s attempt to advance its nefarious agenda through proxies will be countered with full force.

The army chief described India’s efforts to involve third parties in regional tensions as “a brazen and baseless attempt to promote bloc politics,” aimed at misrepresenting India’s self-proclaimed role in the region. He further warned that the world is becoming increasingly suspicious of India’s expansionist ambitions and the dangerous rise of Hindutva extremism.

The conference also reviewed the recent operational successes of the security forces in their counter-terrorism efforts and appreciated the high level of tri-services coordination. Field Marshal Munir commended the leadership of the Pakistan Navy and Pakistan Air Force for their role in strengthening joint operational capability.

In a detailed briefing, Field Marshal Asim Munir updated the forum on his recent visits to key regional and global partners, including Iran, Turkiye, Azerbaijan, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. The forum also received a comprehensive briefing on his recent visit to the United States, which was described as historic and strategic.

“During the US visit, Pakistan’s purposeful and principled stance was directly conveyed to the top American leadership,” the Army Chief said.

The forum discussed regional and global security challenges, including recent developments in the Middle East and Iran, and expressed concern over the increasing global trend of reliance on force. “Such trends undermine the importance of national unity and self-reliance,” the forum noted.

The military leadership was also briefed on strategic innovations being adopted by the Pakistan Army in light of the changing nature of modern warfare and emerging threats.

Concluding the session, Field Marshal Asim Munir expressed full confidence in the Pakistan Army’s operational readiness to counter any threat to national sovereignty, while reiterating the armed forces’ unwavering commitment to defending Pakistan at all costs.
