ISLAMABAD (Internews): The Chinese ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong has emphasised the deep-rooted cultural and diplomatic ties between China and Pakistan highlighting both nations’ commitment to promoting global peace, mutual understanding and shared prosperity under various global initiatives spearheaded by China.

While addressing the event hosted by Chinese embassy in connection with the celebrations of the international day for dialogue among civilizations, the ambassador referred to a speech by Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi, describing it as “very solid” philosophy presenting President Xi Jinping’s vision of the Global Civilization Initiative (GCI). The GCI encourages equality, dialogue, harmony and mutual learning among civilizations. China believes in promoting people-to-people exchanges to build a shared future for mankind.

The ambassador underscored that China is implementing its Global Development Initiative (GDI), GCI, and the Global Security Initiative (GSI) step by step. He highlighted the solid foundations of China-Pakistan relations as a model for implementing these initiatives, with three key perspectives: promoting cultural exchanges, respecting each other’s traditions and enhancing mutual understanding.

Drawing a parallel between Eid and the Chinese spring festival, the ambassador remarked, “We respect each other’s cultures and festivals. This cultural appreciation strengthens the bond between our peoples.”

He warned, however, of rising global challenges referencing the 80th anniversary of the end of fascism and the threat posed by unilateralism and isolationist policies adopted by some countries. “Certain nations are rejecting the principle of equality among civilizations. In these circumstances, China and Pakistan stand together in defending international law and rejecting trade wars and protectionism,” he stressed.

The ambassador recalled his meeting with former Pakistani ambassador to China, Mr. Moinul Haque, who gifted him a book on Gandhara art, a powerful symbol of cultural exchange between the two countries. An exhibition featuring 173 pieces from Pakistani museums recently gained popularity in China showcasing the shared artistic heritage of the two nations.

“We are also utilizing digital technology to protect ancient civilizations and are willing to assist Pakistan in preserving its cultural legacy,” he added.

Highlighting China-Pakistan collaboration under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), he praised the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) as a shining example of partnership.

During CPEC construction, Chinese and Pakistani workers have shared not just experience but culture and friendship embodying a living example of civilizational cooperation.

He concluded by affirming that China and Pakistan remain committed to promoting global peace, development and the shared future of mankind. “We thank the Pakistani government, political parties, and friends for their support in strengthening this enduring bilateral relationship.”

The speaker warmly appreciated Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visionary GCI highlighting its profound importance in today’s interconnected world. This initiative emphasizes equality, dialogue and mutual respect among diverse civilizations fostering harmony and shared learning.

The speakers praised President Xi for advocating a future where cultures and peoples engage in open exchanges to build a shared destiny for humanity.
