An Australian fitness enthusiast, Olivia Vinson, 34, has smashed the Guinness World Record for the most pull-ups completed in 24 hours by a female, nearly doubling the previous record.
Vinson completed an astounding 7,079 pull-ups in a continuous 24-hour effort, surpassing the earlier record of 4,081 set by Polish athlete Paula Gorlo in 2021.
Speaking to Guinness World Records, Vinson said she initially laughed at the idea of attempting the challenge when her husband and coach proposed it. “I thought there was no way,” she recalled. However, after calculating the numbers, she began to believe the feat was achievable.
The journey was not without setbacks. Vinson’s first attempt ended after 12 hours when she sustained a bicep tendon injury, forcing her to pause training for two months. Undeterred, she resumed preparation and embarked on a second attempt.
Despite battling fatigue and nausea nineteen hours into the challenge, Vinson pushed through, maintaining an average pace of five pull-ups every minute. “My concern was whether my body would hold out,” she said.
Vinson described her achievement as a testament to human potential and the power of pushing personal limits. “I’ve achieved a number that I genuinely didn’t think was possible for me when I first came into this,” she said. “World records create a very tangible marker for human potential.”
