2 min read

A joint operation by police and law enforcement agencies in the Rawalakot area resulted in the killing of four terrorists, while two police officials lost their lives and 8 others sustained injuries during the encounter.

According to SSP Poonch Riaz Mughal, the operation was launched after receiving credible intelligence about the presence of the terrorists in the forested region of Hussain Kot.

The suspects had reportedly taken shelter in a cave, and were believed to be planning acts of terrorism in Azad Kashmir.

Speaking at a late-night press conference, SSP Mughal said, “Based on actionable information, a police team, including myself, surrounded the accused in the forest area to apprehend them. During the operation, one of the terrorists detonated a hand grenade, injuring one accomplice and a police officer.”

The ensuing exchange of fire led to the death of all four terrorists, who were wanted in multiple murder cases. “Tragically, two of our brave police personnel were martyred in the line of duty, and 20 others were wounded during the encounter,” SSP Mughal added.
