Heatwave alert: Karachi temperatures to rise from May 25

1 min read

The Met Department has issued a heatwave alert for Karachi and southern districts of Sindh starting May 25, as a low-pressure system in the Arabian Sea is expected to push temperatures higher.

According to Director General Anjum Rizvi, the mercury in Karachi may reach up to 40 degrees Celsius, with the heat intensity feeling three to four degrees hotter due to the prevailing weather conditions. Residents are advised to take necessary precautions against the expected heatwave.

The weather system is predicted to impact southern Sindh districts, including Karachi, causing a significant rise in temperatures and an increased risk of heat-related health issues. However, the coastal belt, including Karachi’s immediate coastal areas, is currently not under direct threat from this system.

The Met Department continues to monitor the situation closely and will provide updates as necessary to ensure public safety during this period of intense heat.
