BEIJING(Internews): In response to rising tensions between India and Pakistan, China on Wednesday expressed regret over India’s early morning military strikes on targets within Pakistan, urging both countries to exercise restraint.

A spokesperson for China’s ministry of foreign affairs addressed a question regarding Indian military strikes on targets in Pakistan. “China finds India’s military operation early this morning regrettable. We are concerned about the ongoing situation,” the spokesperson stated.

Emphasizing its longstanding diplomatic ties with both nations, the Chinese spokesperson added, “India and Pakistan are and will always be each other’s neighbors. They are both China’s neighbors as well.”

Reiterating its firm stance against terrorism, China called on both sides to remain calm. “China opposes all forms of terrorism. We urge both sides to act in the larger interest of peace and stability, remain calm, exercise restraint, and refrain from taking actions that may further complicate the situation,” the spokesperson added.
