Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association (PPDA) rejecting the deregulation policy have threatened to shut down petrol pumps across the country.
Chairman All Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association Abdul Sami Khan in his video message said we reject the de regulation formula on the prices of petroleum products.
“This will only open the doors for petroleum smuggling and adulteration” he said.
He said that deregulating petroleum product prices would allow petrol pumps to set their rates. An emergency meeting of the central committee has been called, and protest banners will be displayed across the country from today.
Abdul Sami Khan said that a letter would be sent to the Petroleum Ministry opposing the deregulation formula and demanding an increase in margins.
He urged that petroleum dealers’ per-liter margin be raised by four per cent to Rs 13.
He claimed that OGRA supported petroleum dealers on the deregulation formula but lacked the courage to speak up before the ministry.
The PPDA chairman stated that petroleum smuggling from Iran has resumed and urged the federal government to sign a legal agreement with Iran to curb it.
He criticized Musadik Malik for ignoring petroleum dealers and claimed that deregulation would not lead to cheaper petrol for the public.
