Steve Smith becomes fourth Australian to amass 10,000 Test runs

Australian batter Steve Smith became the fourth Australian to amass 10,000 runs in Test cricket on Wednesday.

According to details, Smith achieved the milestone during the opening day of the first Test against Sri Lanka, when the batting maestro flicked one to mid-wicket off left-arm spinner Prabath Jayasuriya.

Moreover, Smith became the fifth fastest batter overall to join 10,000 club.

He also became the second fastest Australian to reach the milestone.

It took 205 innings for Smith to achieve the milestone.

Former Australian captain Ricky Ponting had achieved the milestone in 196 innings, whereas Allan Border took 235 innings and Steve Waugh needed 244 innings.

Not only this, Smith had also notched his 35th Test century on the first day of the match against Sri Lanka.
