The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoIT&T) has prepared a roadmap for 5G technology, documents showed .
The documents said that 5G technology will be launched across the country, with the initial date given to be June 2025. The spectrum auction will be completed in five phases, the documents said.
According to the details, the 5G spectrum auction process will begin next month. In the first phase, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) will give the consultant’s recommendations to the Spectrum Advisory Committee.
In the second phase, the advisory committee will finalise the policy reforms. The advisory committee will then determine the pricing and trading terms of 5G spectrum in March.
After the completion of these steps, the federal government will approve the policy directive in April 2025, the documents showed, adding that the auction will be conducted by the PTA in May 2025.
PTA will put four 5G spectrums up for auction, including spectrums of 700 MHz, 2300 MHz, 2600 MHz and 3500 MHz, the documents showed.
