
Matiullah Jan, a prominent Pakistani journalist, has been arrested by the Margalla police in Islamabad.
As per details, a case has been registered against Matiullah at the Margalla police station.
The FIR further alleges that Jan was driving a white car at a high speed when asked to stop by security. Instead, jan tried to run the security staff over.
He then allegedly snatched a guard’s gun and pointed it at him. The FIR also alleges that Matiullah was intoxicated at the time.
The FIR states that upon scanning the vehicle, a shopping bag containing 246 grams of ice was found in the car.
Whereas, they managed to stop the vehicle by throwing a barrier in its path.
Jan has been named in the case, and the FIR also mentioned that he was found to be on drugs and ice was recovered from the vehicle’s seat.
The case includes charges of attempted murder and other serious offenses.
Jan, a prominent YouTuber, has been booked under the Anti-Terrorism Act. He will be presented in an anti-terrorism court in Islamabad later today.
Matiullah Jan and another journalist, Saqib Bashir, were abducted by unidentified individuals on the night of November 26. While Saqib Bashir was later released, Matiullah Jan remains missing.
According to Source, Bashir is filing a petition with the Islamabad High Court regarding the incident.
It is noteworthy that Matiullah Jan previously shared a video on social media showing a Rangers official being run over by a vehicle in Islamabad. Jan claimed the Rangers official was struck by his own vehicle. However, several Rangers officials later stated that a speeding vehicle driven by protesters ran over their colleague.
Jan had also claimed that PIMS officials were being pressured not to report casualties in the operation against the PTI protest.
It’s worth mentioning here that in 2020, the Matiullah Jan was allegedly abducted by an unidentified group of men from Sector G-6 of Islamabad in broad daylight. The abductors fled to an unknown location after kidnapping the journalist.
Later, unidentified kidnappers released senior journalist Matiullah Jan after around 12 hours and left him at a location near Fateh Jang town.
Sources said that he departed for his home with his brother after getting released by the abductors who left him near Fateh Jang, a small town located in Punjab province.
