A Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) delegation led by party chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan paid an unexpected visit to Adiala Jail on Monday night to meet PTI Founder Imran Khan.
Sources revealed that the delegation included three senior party leaders who briefed the incarcerated PTI founder on the latest developments in ongoing negotiations with the government. The meeting is said to have lasted for a little over an hour.
They also said that the delegation consulted Imran Khan on the future course of action regarding the party’s ongoing protest march.
In view of the alleged behind-the-scenes contacts between the PTI and government representatives, it is reported that Barrister Gohar delivered a message to the PTI founder in Adiala Jail.
Earlier in the day also, Barrister Gohar and Barrister Saif held a significant meeting with Imran Khan at Adiala Jail, which lasted for an hour and a half. Following the meeting, both leaders exited the premises without sharing detailed insights.
Speaking to journalists later, Barrister Gohar termed the meeting “important” and confirmed Khan’s call for protest remains unchanged. “The protest has not been called off; it is final,” he asserted.
When pressed for information regarding the ongoing negotiations with the government, Barrister Gohar remained optimistic, stating, “If they go forward, God willing, we will talk.”
The government has allegedly initiated contacts with the PTI leadership to negotiate an alternative location for their planned protest, according to sources. Sources reveal that negotiations between Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and PTI leaders were held at the Ministers Enclave.
Officials reportedly proposed allowing PTI protesters to hold their protest at a location other than D-Chowk. The sources said that the PTI could be offered Peshawar Morr or some other location on the outskirts for the protest, and the protesters will have to guarantee they will remain confined to the designated area.
However, a key condition of the arrangement is that the protesters must refrain from advancing beyond Peshawar Morr towards the Red Zone. The government has reportedly urged PTI leaders to avoid entering Islamabad, citing a scheduled business conference with Belarusian investors taking place in the capital tomorrow.
