Army Chief vows to dismantle hostile terrorist networks

PESHAWAR: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir visited Peshawar on Friday as a continuation of the National Apex Committee meeting held on November 19, 2024, and in preparation for the upcoming Provincial Apex Committee meeting, according to a statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

During his visit, the COAS received a detailed briefing on the prevailing security situation and the progress of ongoing counter-terrorism operations in the region. The Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) and senior field commanders were also present at the briefing.

Paying tribute to the martyrs (Shuhada) and veterans (Ghazis), General Munir lauded their unparalleled sacrifices, emphasizing that their contributions form the cornerstone of national resilience. He highlighted how their dedication continues to inspire the unwavering commitment of the Armed Forces and Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) in defending the motherland.

The COAS expressed admiration for the high morale, operational readiness, and steadfast determination of the troops actively engaged in countering all forms of threats.

Reaffirming the Army’s resolve to eliminate terrorism, he vowed to dismantle hostile networks and curb illegal activities that jeopardize national security. General Munir stressed the collective commitment of the nation and its security forces in combating terrorism, underscoring the priority to neutralize the designs of inimical elements.

He assured that through coordinated and decisive operations, the Pakistan Army, in collaboration with LEAs, would relentlessly pursue the enemies of peace to ensure lasting stability and security in the region.
