Lahore’s overall air quality index (AQI) has reached alarming levels, with the current AQI standing at 434, significantly exceeding the World Health Organization’s (WHO) safety guidelines.
The city’s air contains 58.5 times more chemical substances than the recommended levels set by the WHO.
Several areas in Lahore are experiencing hazardous air quality. FC College and its surrounding areas have recorded an AQI of 688, while Defense Phase 8 and Jail Road both report AQI levels of 565 and 561, respectively.
Other areas like Johartown and Gulberg have AQI levels of 478 and 477, respectively, with Shimla Hill at 473 and Mall Road at 455.
Ferozepur Road and its surroundings are not far behind, with an AQI of 412, while Ghazi Road has recorded 425.
The hazardous air quality poses serious health risks, especially for those with respiratory conditions, and authorities are urging residents to take precautions.
