On Diwali, actors Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh delighted fans by sharing the first photo of their daughter and revealing her name — Dua Padukone Singh.
Deepika posted the picture on Instagram, explaining the meaning behind the name. She wrote, “Dua Padukone Singh | ‘Dua’ : meaning a Prayer. Because She is the Answer to our Prayers. Our hearts are filled with Love and Gratitude. Deepika and Ranveer (sic).”
In the photo, the baby is dressed in what appears to be red ethnic attire.
The couple welcomed their first child on September 8, 2024, and announced her arrival with a heartfelt joint social media post, “Welcome baby girl. 8-9-2024. Deepika & Ranveer.”
During her pregnancy, Deepika actively promoted ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ but has stayed out of the spotlight since embracing motherhood. Meanwhile, Ranveer has made several public appearances, including at the trailer launch of ‘Singham Again’, a film that also stars Deepika.
Explaining her absence, Ranveer shared that Deepika was occupied with the baby. “My duty to take care of the baby is in the night, hence I am here,” he said.
Ranveer also hinted at their baby’s “debut” as ‘Baby Simmba’ in ‘Singham Again’, playfully adding, “There are so many stars in our film, and let me tell you this—my baby had a debut as Baby Simmba.” He mentioned that Deepika was pregnant while filming for the project.
