ISLAMABAD: Two terrorists were killed during an operation in Pakistan’s eastern Punjab province, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of police said on Friday.

The CTD personnel conducted an intelligence-based operation in the Dera Ghazi Khan district of the province on reported presence of the terrorists in the area, the CTD officials told media.

During the operation, two terrorists were killed by the firing of their own accomplices, while the other two terrorists managed to escape from the scene, the officials said, adding that a search operation has been launched for the arrest of the fleeing terrorists.

The terrorists were devising a plan to target important installations and conduct terrorist activities on a large scale in the province, the CTD said.

The CTD also recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition including rifles, bullets, and explosives from the hideouts of the terrorists.
