Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Founder Chairman Imran Khan has accepted the resignation of Omar Ayub from his position as the party’s general secretary.

In a swift move to fill the vacancy, Imran Khan has nominated prominent lawyer and party leader Salman Akram Raja as the new secretary general of the PTI.

Omar Ayub, who tendered his resignation from the party post, will continue to serve as the leader of the opposition in the National Assembly. His continued role in parliament ensures that he remains an influential figure in PTI’s political landscape.

On June 27, taking to X (formerly Twitter), Ayub had announced, “I am most grateful to PM Imran Khan sahib for accepting my resignation as Secretary General PTI to focus on my role as Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly of Pakistan.”

The resignation letter, dated June 22, was directed to Imran Khan and PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan.

Senator Shibli Faraz, the leader of the opposition in the Senate, had conveyed Ayub’s resignation to Imran Khan during a meeting at Adyala Jail.

“There will be further changes made in the organisational structure of PTI in the coming days as directed by PM Imran Khan sahib,” Ayub mentioned in his post.
