Arshad Nadeem receives Pakistan’s second-highest civilian award

Arshad Nadeem, the celebrated javelin thrower who made history at the Paris Olympics by securing Pakistan’s first-ever Olympic gold medal in the event, has been awarded the Hilal-e-Imtiaz.

The honour was conferred by President Asif Ali Zardari during a special ceremony held at Aiwan-e-Sadr on Wednesday.

Nadeem, who set a new world record with a javelin throw of 92.97 metres, brought unprecedented pride to the nation.

His achievement not only secured Pakistan’s first individual Olympic gold medal but also marked the country’s first Olympic gold in 40 years.

President Zardari, while presenting the award, praised Nadeem for his extraordinary dedication and contribution to sports, highlighting that his accomplishment has raised Pakistan’s profile on the global stage.

In his remarks, Nadeem expressed his gratitude to the nation and the government for the recognition, dedicating the award to the people of Pakistan.
