3 troops, 5 terrorists killed in clash in NW Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Three troops and five terrorists were killed in a clash between terrorists and security forces in Pakistan’s northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the Pakistan Army said in a statement on Monday.

The incident happened in the Bajaur district of the province on Sunday night till the wee hours of Monday when the security forces intercepted the terrorists trying to infiltrate the Afghan-Pakistan border, the army’s media wing Inter-Services Public Relations said in the statement.

The troops “effectively engaged and thwarted their attempt to infiltrate,” leading to the fatalities on both sides, the statement added.

Four terrorists were also injured in the clash, the statement said.
