The National Cyber Emergency Response Team (CERT) has issued a critical advisory, warning of a heightened risk of cyber-attacks targeting organizations across Pakistan.

The advisory urges all institutions to take immediate precautionary measures to safeguard their digital infrastructure.

According to the National CERT, the primary threat identified is a SQL injection attack, a type of cyber assault in which hackers exploit vulnerabilities in a database to gain unauthorized access. The advisory highlights that hackers may attempt to breach databases to steal sensitive information, posing a significant threat to the integrity and privacy of organizational data.

Hackers are trying to gain access to sensitive information from various organizations’ databases,” the advisory notes.

The advisory strongly recommends that all institutions and organizations act swiftly to address this growing threat. It specifically advises the mobilization of information security officers to lead the defensive efforts within their respective entities.

Additionally, the CERT has urged the activation of firewalls and other cybersecurity measures to secure databases against potential breaches.

“This is a serious threat that could compromise the security of sensitive information across various sectors,” the advisory stated, adding that the attacks pose a serious threat to organizational data integrity and privacy.

Organizations are advised to remain vigilant and continuously monitor their systems for any suspicious activity. The CERT’s advisory serves as a crucial reminder of the ongoing cyber threats facing Pakistan and the need for robust cybersecurity protocols to protect against potential attacks.
