Pakistani students make nation proud at international chemistry Olympiad

The Pakistan team secured a bronze medal at the 56th International Chemistry Olympiad (ICHO), held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from July 21 to 30.

Abdul Rafay from Karachi Grammar School won the bronze medal for Pakistan. The team also included Mahnoor Rashid (Lahore Grammar School, Wah Cantt), Marva (Punjab College for Women, Faisalabad), and Syed Mehir Ali Shah (Dubai International Public School and College, Mansehra).

The team was trained at the HEJ Research Institute of Chemistry, University of Karachi, under the guidance of the National Chemistry Talent Contest (NCTC) coordinator and senior professor at the University of Karachi, Prof. M. Khalid Khan, and Prof. Dr. M. Raza Shah.

During a meeting at the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi, Prof. Dr. M. Raza Shah and Prof. Dr. Khalid M. Khan congratulated the students. They acknowledged the support of the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, which enabled Pakistani students to participate in international chemistry competitions.

Prof. Dr. Farzana Shaheen, Head of ICCBS University Karachi, presided over the meeting and praised the students’ achievements.
