Karachi becomes 2nd most dangerous city in the world for tourists: Forbes

Forbes Advisor’s 2024 rankings have identified Karachi as the second most dangerous city for tourists, following Caracas, Venezuela.

The study evaluated 60 global cities, focusing on crime, safety, health, infrastructure, natural disasters, and digital security.

Karachi earned a safety score of 93.12, just below Caracas, which scored 100. Yangon, Myanmar, ranked third with a score of 91.67.

Other cities on the list of risky destinations include Lagos, Nigeria; Manila, Philippines; Dhaka, Bangladesh; Bogota, Colombia; Cairo, Egypt; Mexico City, Mexico; and Quito, Ecuador.

The report cited Karachi’s high risk due to political instability, significant crime rates, and shortcomings in health services and infrastructure. Tourists face threats from street crime and terrorism, and the city struggles with inadequate public transport, sanitation issues, and frequent power outages.

Meanwhile, Singapore emerged as the safest city for tourists, with a perfect safety score of 0. Following are the world’s safest cities:
