Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has issued an alert regarding the upcoming monsoon rains, predicting a significant increase of up to 35% this year.

According to PDMA, the monsoon rains are expected to commence on July 1.

In a letter addressed to the provincial administration, PDMA highlighted the expected rainfall patterns for July:

  • First Week of July: 15 to 50 mm of rain
  • Second Week of July: 25 to 35 mm of rain
  • Third Week of July: 15 to 25 mm of rain
  • Fourth Week of July: 50 to 70 mm of rain

The PDMA has warned that the increased rainfall poses a risk of urban flooding and hill torrents, particularly in South Punjab. Authorities are urged to take necessary precautions and prepare for potential emergencies.
