
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has praised Energy China as a globally renowned multinational corporation and a crucial partner for Pakistan, contributing significantly to the country’s sustainable development.
According to a statement released by Energy China on Saturday, it was stated that Song Hailiang, Chairman of Energy China (CEEC), met with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during his visit to China.
The meeting focused on implementing the important consensus reached by the leaders of both countries, enhancing the integration of the Belt and Road Initiative with the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, and accelerating major projects in Pakistan’s energy, power, and infrastructure sectors.
The discussions aimed to elevate the China-Pakistan all-weather strategic cooperative partnership and build a closer China-Pakistan community with a shared future in the new era.
Prime Minister Sharif emphasized Pakistan regards China as its most trusted friend, noting the unbreakable friendship between the two nations. He highlighted the significant role of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor in promoting Pakistan’s national development and benefiting the Pakistani people.
He expressed his hope for Energy China to focus on building an “upgraded version” of the Economic Corridor, increase investment in Pakistan, and engage deeply in the development of growth, livelihood, innovation, green, and open corridors. The Pakistani government will fully support Energy China’s investments and projects, actively promote key projects, strengthen security guarantees, and work together to inject new momentum into the strategic partnership.
Song Hailiang expressed gratitude for the Pakistani government’s long-standing support of Energy China and provided an overview of the company’s reform and development. He stated that Energy China, as a technologically innovative, integrated energy, comprehensive infrastructure, and development-oriented enterprise, is focused on new energy, new infrastructure, new industries, and new materials. The company is continuously developing new productivity, showing a positive trend in its transformation and unleashing comprehensive momentum for high-quality development.
