NLC enhances regional connectivity with milestone trade expansion

2 min read

Pakistan’s National Logistics Cell (NLC) has achieved a new milestone. This government agency, known for its transport and logistics services, has effectively expanded its trade reach to another key Central Asian country.

This week, NLC successfully delivered its first truckload of 6 tonnes of cherries from Dara Khunjarab to China. Following this, a second consignment is set to depart from Gilgit-Baltistan next week.

This achievement marks a crucial development in Pakistan’s trade capabilities, particularly under the Transports Internationaux Routiers (TIR) system.

Last year, under the TIR system, NLC facilitated the first export of two trucks loaded with medicines from Pakistan to Kyrgyzstan, culminating in Bishkek.

This event opened a new trade route connecting Pakistan not only with Central Asian states but also extending to Russia and Eastern Europe.

The recent activation of the TIR system alongside the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is set to stabilize and enhance trade between China and Pakistan.

In April, NLC trucks dispatched a consignment of potatoes from Okara and Rahim Yar Khan to Dushanbe, completing the journey in just seven days.

Additionally, in March, 27 vehicles from China successfully entered Pakistan through the Khunjarab Pass.
