PTI gets conditional permission to hold rally in Rawat

2 min read

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has been granted conditional permission to hold a rally in Rawat on GT Road by the deputy commissioner’s office.

This decision comes as part of the ongoing contempt of court case related to the PTI’s previous inability to hold a rally in Islamabad due to a lack of permission.

The Islamabad High Court, led by Chief Justice Aamir Farooq, had directed the deputy commissioner (DC) Islamabad to decide on the PTI’s petition regarding the rally. Following this directive, the district administration reviewed the PTI’s request and subsequently informed the court of their decision.

The DC issued a notification allowing the PTI to hold the rally on June 8 from 4pm to 7pm, under 39 specified conditions. Key conditions outlined in the No-Objection Certificate (NOC) include:

No road closures for the rally.

A strict ban on weapons of any kind, including batons.

Prohibition on converting the rally into a sit-in.

Responsibility for internal security of the rally rests with PTI’s administration.

Prohibition on slogans against religion, the state, and Pakistan.

LHC hearing on PTI’s rally request in Punjab

Simultaneously, the Lahore High Court (LHC) took up the PTI’s request for permission to hold rallies in Punjab. Justice Abid Aziz Shaikh presided over the hearing and issued notices to the concerned parties, seeking their responses on the matter.
