Pakistan former all-rounder Shahid Khan Afridi expressed his gratitude to the International Cricket Council (ICC) for appointing the legend as an ambassador for the forthcoming T20 World Cup 2024.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Afridi wrote: “Grateful and honored to be on board as the exclusive brand ambassador for T20 World Cup from Pakistan.”

“Thank you, ICC for this amazing opportunity. Looking forward to promoting the spirit of cricket and cheering on our team!”

Earlier today, Afridi had been appointed as the latest ambassador for the eagerly awaited ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, set to ignite excitement across the West Indies and the USA.

Afridi joined a distinguished lineup of ambassadors, featuring cricket luminaries such as Indian maestro Yuvraj Singh, the electrifying Chris Gayle, and the iconic sprinter Usain Bolt, adding his own illustrious legacy to the mix.

Renowned for his pivotal role in Pakistan’s journey to the inaugural T20 World Cup final in 2007 and their triumphant campaign in 2009, Afridi’s association with the tournament is deeply entrenched in history.

Recalling his cherished moments from past tournaments, Afridi expressed his eagerness to contribute as an ambassador in the upcoming edition. “The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup holds a special place in my heart,” Afridi reminisced. “From clinching the Player of the Tournament title in the inaugural edition to lifting the trophy in 2009, some of the most unforgettable memories of my career were made on this prestigious stage.”
