Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi said on Friday that the facilities for the issuance and renewal of identity cards will be provided at the union council level nationwide.
According to details, Naqvi visited the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) headquarters in Islamabad. On this occasion, he toured the operational room and received a briefing on the digital monitoring system.
During his visit, he announced several key decisions to facilitate the public. The biometric machines will be installed at these local councils to streamline the process.
He called for a foolproof, improved, and faster identity card system, ensuring that NADRA centres operate efficiently and conveniently for the public.
Additionally, he requested a plan within seven days to expand NADRA centres in Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, Quetta, Islamabad, and Rawalpindi. Naqvi also ordered effective action against the fake identity card mafia.
Govt decides to constitute special protection force
Last month in April, Naqvi decided to constitute a special protection force for the security of foreign nationals.
Naqvi chaired a meeting in Islamabad in connection with the law and order situation. On this occasion, Naqvi directed the use of modern technology to tighten the noose around the drug gangs.
“The sale of ice and other drugs outside the educational institutions will not be tolerated. The drug dealers are against the country’s prosperity and uplift,” he said.
Shedding light on the first information reports (FIRs), Naqvi also directed to ensure the registration of the FIRs at any cost. He made it clear that action would be taken against the concerned police officers for not registering the FIRs.
The interior minister had summoned the comprehensive plan in a bid to address the traffic issues in the federal capital city.
Naqvi had also asked to wrap up the promotion case of the Islamabad police as soon as possible and fill the vacant posts.
He had also hinted at equipping Islamabad Safe City with modern requirements on the pattern of Lahore Safe City.
